With One Particular Gypsy
In spring 2008, it was announced that Equus, the play Daniel did in London in 2007, was going to come to Broadway for a limited engagement. Fans were eagerly awaiting this, as many USA fans didn’t get the chance to see it on the West End. When Dan came to NYC in June 2008 to present at the Tony’s, it gave Fans the taste of Dan living in America. It wasn’t long there after when rehearsals started for the theatrical production. The play opened in mid-September 2008.
The show ran until February 8th, 2009, with many things being awarded to Dan and the Equus cast. In January, Dan & The Equus Cast took part in the Gypsy of the Year competition, winning them the title of show to raise the most money. This, however, was not the only charity event the Cast was doing. They also did Broadway Bears and the Broadway Cares foundation. Both of which made their amounts go higher to fight for charities and HIV/AIDS. As Equus came to a close, Dan was awarded two caricatures from Sardis and Tony’s Di Napoli Wall of Fame. Thus marking his spot on the Broadway stage.
