The Chamber
Filming for the second installment “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” prooved to be a challenge, but Dan, being a determined young actor, was ready to tackle it head on. It began three days after filming for the first opened. The film was a more straightforward action movie, and was described as Darker, Scarier, and above all, funnier. The film was reviewed and praised by the critics. They too had become convinced Daniel was made to play the role of Harry. The film’s release on November 15, 2002 once again smashed the TransAtlantic Box Offices becomeing the 9th highest grossing film in history, grossing at $876,688,482. It still holds the record to this day.
After attending premieres and events for the Harry Potter Promotional Tour, including making his first trip to China & Japan, Daniel took some time off. On November 23-24, 2002 he made his West End Stage debut in a comedy tribute called, “The Play I Wrote” written by Kenneth Branagh. The Play was a tribute to former top British comedy duo Morecambe and Wise, It starred a different Star Guest every night. When asked about his experiance Dan said, “It was great fun. I had never been on stage before so it was a little scary at first, but it certainly gave me the desire to do more on stage.”
After the release of the second film and making his stage debut, Daniel took time off to visit a few places and take a break from filming. While on break he spent as few weeks in Australia for a Christmas vacation. There he spent time seeing the sites and visiting with his family. Among the many places toured, Dan found the time to walk the huge Sydney Harbor Bridge.
