Daniel Radcliffe has always had a passion for acting since the tender age of five. And although his parents had certain hesitations, he was able to find his way to the big screen. Daniel landed his first major role as young David in the BBC television production of David Copperfield. Here, he worked with Dame Maggie Smith whom he also had the chance to co-star with in Harry Potter. Another of Daniel's past project include the movie "The Tailor Of Panama", playing Mark Pendel, the son of Harry Pendel (Geoffrey Rush). This role also gave him the chance to work alongside Pierce Brosnan and Jamie Lee Curtis.
In early 2000 producer David Heyman and screenwriter Steve Kloves were in a desperate hope to find their "Harry" for the film version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone. While attending a play in London with his parents, Daniel was discovered. David continuously looked back at Daniel. During the intermission, David asked Dan's dad, Alan Radcliffe, if Dan could come in for an audition. His parents didn't accept the invitation immediatly, but took thought.
When Daniel first tried out for the role of Harry, he didn't have much hope but soon he found out that he actually got it. "My dad came in and told me I've got the part of Harry Potter. I cried, I was so happy. I woke up in the middle of the night, around half two, and I woke up my dad too, just to check with him that it wasn't all a dream. That I really was going to be Harry Potter." Since the major success of Harry Potter Daniel has done numerous other productions.
Outside of Harry Potter, Daniel has been very successful. Staring in 2 Successful films and a stage productio, Daniel has boosted fame, fans, and his career upwards. In the end of 2005 Daniel flew out to Australia to film and Independent Australian film called "December Boys". The movie was later released in September of 2007. In mid 2006, Daniel was called to play the role of John "Jack" Kipling in the ITV Film called "My Boy Jack". The movie was due to be filmed in let 2007. Also in 2006 Daniel had been offered to play the role of Alan Strang in the stage revival of "Equus". Taking on these challenges helped Dan be more noticed and break out of the shell of Harry Potter.
Currently Daniel resides in London with his parents, and 2 dogs. He is currently filming Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Due in theatres November 21, 2008.
