Chronicle edging Woman in Black $8.7 mil to $8.3 mil
It is starting to look like football won’t be the only gripping competition this Superbowl weekend. Both Fox’s “Chronicle” and CBS Films’ “The Woman in Black” sat atop the domestic B.O. Friday.
Currently “Chronicle” is edging “Woman in Black” by a 4% margin, roughly $8.7 million to $8.3 million. Both films are now estimated to land in the $19 million to $21 million range, but because the drop off on Superbowl Sunday can vary appreciably, this frame is notoriously difficult to predict.
“Woman in Black” may claim the lead insiders predicted as 59% of its audience is female and 57% of its audience is under 25, a demographic least likely to be pulled away from theaters by the game, but it is too early and too close to say with certainty.
Open Road’s “The Grey” came in third with about $3.2 million, followed by Universal’s family fare “Big Miracle” with $2.3 million. Lionsgate’s “One for the Money” and Sony’s “Underworld Awakening” rounded out yesterday’s domestic B.O. tops, both with $1.7 million, bringing their cumes to $16.1 million and $50.5 million, respectively.

Jay Leno and Ellen

Shortlist, and Jay Leno
Yesterday I was suppose to post this but Ben sent us the link for the shortlist article. Here’s a snippet of what was said along with the Behind the scenes photoshoot. If you didn’t watch Jay Leno there was a new clip from the Woman in Black. It was spectacular and Dan funny as always. I’ll post more on that later.
Let’s talk about The Woman In Black. Did you see the play when you were younger?
I didn’t. I missed that school trip [laughs]. But I tend to mimic and copy, so I wanted to keep from seeing it as I knew I would end up borrowing elements I liked from the play.
Were there any Three Men & A Baby-esque ghostly apparitions on set?
No, although Tom Selleck did materialise in the background of one scene. It’s very brief — you just catch a glimpse of his moustache [laughs].

If you missed Daniel as co- host on Live with Kelly this morning, he was spectacular. I don’t know if Kelly’s website will post anything on this. But if they do, you can sure to be seeing something on it here at Live with Kelly.

Band of the Day is releasing an app, it’s a free music app that can be downloaded onto apple devices like iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It’s kind of like a music magazine, featuring just one new band a day, with reviews/bios/full songs/vids/buzz from fans. So for this feature, instead of us choosing the band for Friday, we let Dan choose it, and we interviewed him about his choice. To view the feature, fans will need to download the free app from the app store on iTunes Friday February 3.
